Silverfleet's differentiated pan-European offering brings trophy back to Carter Lane
A new look Silverfleet side, with added Nordic flair, arrived at the Eversheds annual Private Equity 5-a-side Football Tournament keen to make amends for last year's heartache, as well as to raise money for the charity, Whitechapel Mission, which has been helping the homeless and marginalised for 140 years.
Emerging undefeated from the group stages – having despatched Beechbrook, H2, BDO and KPMG – news filtered through that hosts Eversheds had delivered an upset and knocked out the joint top seed, the combined Inflexion/HSBC team, setting-up a mouth-watering final.
The Silverfleet team raced out of the blocks in the final, Johan Boork (Silverfleet’s latest Swedish signing, joining the experienced Karl Eidem) scoring the goal of the tournament when he span his marker before deftly chipping the ball over the oncoming goalkeeper, as Silverfleet went on to secure a 5-0 victory to bring the trophy home to Carter Lane. At the trophy ceremony which followed, all seven of Silverfleet's squad formed a queue to pick up the Player of the Tournament award, but the personal accolade went to the deserving Johan Boork.
Congratulations to all the members of the Silverfleet Team that included: Patrick Allum; Johan Boork; Sumit Dheir; Karl Eidem; Peter Kisenyi; Rob Knight and Dom Mitchell.
