Silverfleet announces leadership transition plan

Silverfleet Capital, the Pan-European mid-market private equity firm today announces its succession strategy in preparation for the next phase of its growth.

Neil MacDougall, the Firm’s current Managing Partner will assume the position of Chairman of Silverfleet effective April 1st, 2019. In this role, Neil will hand over management responsibility to Gareth Whiley but will continue on the Investment Committee of existing funds and provide senior support to Silverfleet’s five European offices.

Gareth Whiley, who has served as Partner since 2002 will become the Firm’s Managing Partner on April 1st, 2019. In his new role, Gareth will assume overall responsibility for the management of the Firm. 

Neil MacDougall joined Silverfleet Capital in 1989, became Managing Partner in 2004 and led the buyout of the Firm from Prudential plc in 2007. Under Neil’s leadership, Silverfleet has grown to become one of Europe’s leading mid-market private equity investors and currently manages over €1.2 billion.

Gareth Whiley joined Silverfleet Capital in 1997 and has been responsible for a significant number of Silverfleet’s successful investments across Europe. Most recently, Gareth has been leading the Firm’s UK and Nordic investment activities with additional responsibility for investments in the Consumer sector. 

Silverfleet’s 30 person investment team will continue to implement the Firm’s investment strategy that it has successfully pursued for 30 years, remaining focused on building international market leading businesses. Silverfleet invests in companies with enterprise values of €20 – 300 million headquartered in the UK & Ireland, DACH, France & Benelux and the Nordic regions of Europe.
