Silverfleet Capital supports specialist pump manufacturer Pumpenfabrik Wangen acquisition of Knoll’s business unit for Progressing Cavity Pumps

On January 1st 2019, Pumpenfabrik Wangen, a leading designer and producer of progressing cavity and twin screw pumps based in Wangen im Allgäu, took over the business unit for Progressing Cavity Pumps (MX line) from Knoll Maschinenbau GmbH, a global leader in the production of conveyors, filter systems and pumps for machine tools, based in Bad Saulgau, Germany.

This acquisition is an important milestone in Pumpenfabrik Wangen’s long-term growth strategy, developed and implemented together with its new majority shareholder Silverfleet Capital. “Knoll’s Progressing Cavity Pumps complement Wangen’s portfolio of pumps excellently, particularly in the field of hygienic and industrial applications and will not only help us to further penetrate our key markets, but will also support our continued international growth”, says Markus Hofheinz, Pumpenfabrik Wangen’s CEO.

Due to their modular structure and their robust construction, MX Progressing Cavity Pumps are suitable for hygienic applications as well as for the chemical, paint, coatings and paper industries. Thanks to their EvenWall® technology these progressing cavity pumps feature particularly high pressure stability. Also the seals and joints of the MX line provide for uniquely high hygienic standards.

“We are planning to focus strategically on our core business at Knoll. For our Progressing Cavity Pumps unit we were looking for a buyer who wants to further develop the business and will continue to deliver high standards in quality and service for our long-standing client base. With Pumpenfabrik Wangen we have found the ideal partner”, says Matthias Knoll, managing partner at Knoll Maschinenbau GmbH.

In the future, the model range will be distributed by Knoll’s current business partners as well as by Pumpenfabrik Wangen’s entire distribution network. Customers will now benefit from Pumpenfabrik Wangen’s comprehensive and growing service network. “As a result we can now offer a significantly broader product range and complement our Twin Screw Pump line with the leading Progressing Cavity Pumps for hygienic applications”, says Markus Hofheinz.

The seamless acquisition of business that both sides target is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019 – all products and services will be available without interruption.
